China’s fruit juice market has witness rapid growth of more than a decade. In terms of production, the output of fruit juice reached 19.2 million tons in 2011, accounting for 16.33% of the total output of soft drinks. In terms of consumption, the average per capita fruit juice consumption in China, which is still far behind that of developed countries, accounts for 1/40 of the average level in west Europe, 1/20 of the average level in America, and 1/6 of the average level in Japan, indicating an enormous prospects of growth. With the growth of people’s disposable income and the uprising of middle class in China, Chinese people become stronger in terms of economic standard and are more inclined to choose the fruit juice drinks which are healthier, natural and also better in flavor. In terms of import & export, the strategy of developing the west region makes China the major exporting country of apple juice concentrate in the world. In domestic market, the import of each small-type of fruit juice drinks, with orange juice as their representative, has also been on increase. In terms of the operation and integration in the fruit juice drinks industry, the raw material suppliers in the upstream are also trying to find a way through in the downstream market while stabilizing domestic market supply and proactively developing overseas market; whereas the traditional drinks giants in the downstream also speed up their development to occupy the resources in the upstream so as to become the leading enterprises in the fruit juice drinks market. The development of new types and the building of final sales channels will be the focuses of the competitors in the fruit juice drinks market.

Along with the increase of people’s income resulted from the speeding up of china’s urbanization, more and more people are no longer content with just being with adequate food and clothes; instead, they begin to pursue a well-off life with sufficient wealth. Besides, safety, nutrition and health-care are becoming their concerns in terms of daily food and drinks. Fruit/vegetable juice drinks gain people’s favor because they are both of rich nutrition and good health-care functions and safe and environmental-protective. In spite of its rapid development, China’s fruit juice industry still has a long way to go before it catches up with that of developed countries, and therefore has an enormous potential for further development.
